Inspired by a passage in Ernest Hemingway’s 'The Sun Also Rises', Soufflot Eau de Parfum by Miller Harris is the olfactive reproduction of an early morning stroll that perfumer Mathieu Nardin once took at Luxembourg Garden in Paris. The text, incidentally, describes the main character rising from his bed and walking down Rue de Soufflot on a spring morning. The sun shines through the horse chestnut trees, flowers are brought up from the market, and the air is filled with morning brioche, coffee and tobacco. A sense of awakening and awareness of the beauty in the everyday is therefore captured in the passage — and this oriental vanilla fragrance that followed, rooted in star notes like tobacco leaf, sambac jasmine, and chestnut.
